U of I Spending $230,000 to Replace Practice Fields

The University of Illinois is paying $230,000 to replace worn-out sod on the school's football practice fields at the Urbana-Champaign campus.

Athletics officials say the new turf was grown in Wisconsin and is the same grass used on the Chicago Bears' practice fields.

They say the sod has a sand base that improves drainage during wet weather.

EIU Women's Basketball Adds Another Player

Eastern Illinois women’s basketball coach Matt Bollant adds another player to his recruiting class for next season.

The university says Australian guard/forward Lana Marov will join the team in the fall.

Bollant was hired in mid-April and has already signed Karle Pace (Clarksville, Tenn.) and Grace McRae (Melbourne, Australia) to next year’s roster.

EIU Announces Hall of Fame Class of 2017

The Eastern Illinois University athletic office announces its Hall of Fame Class of 2017.

The ceremony will take place at Eastern's October 7th football game against Tennessee Tech.

High School Softball

For the high school softball teams the end of the regular season is near, and a chance to clinch a conference title is on the line.

Tomorrow morning, the Charleston Trojans will host a double header against rival Mt. Zion.
