EIU Basketball Coach Offered Extension

Eastern Illinois University has offered its men's head basketball coach a two-year contract extension.
If approved by the school's board of trustees, Marty Simmons new contract will run through the 2026-2027 season.
"He has been a proven winner at his previous coaching stops and I believe that he has the basketball program poised to take another step forward", said EIU Athletic Director Tom Michael.
Marty Simmons is coming off his third year as the school's head coach.
Simmons guided the Panthers to a 14-18 record this season and also guided the team to its first Ohio Valley Conference Tournament since the 2019-20 season, according to EIU Athletics.
