Sherard Clinkscales Is Named UIC Senior Deputy Athletics Director

The University of Illinois Chicago, Director of Athletics Michael Lipitz, announced on Wednesday that Sherard Clinkscales has been named senior deputy athletics director and chief revenue officer for the program.

Before his decision to come to Illinois, Clinkscales helped out a wide variety of sports and athletics programs. Sherard Clinkscales previously served as the director of athletics at Indiana State University, where he led a 15-sport Sycamore athletics program, serving 450 student-athletes and earning 11 NCAA championship berths in six different sports.

Clinkscales is also known for hiring former head coach Josh Schertz, who led Indiana State men's basketball back to national prominence this past season; also under Clinkscales' leadership, Indiana State also posted the highest Academic Progress Rate score in school history, with 985 in 2019.

During his time at Terre Haute, Clinkscales served on multiple committees, including the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee (2021-23), the NCAA Nominating Committee (2019-23), the MVC Commissioner Search Committee (2020-21), and the MVC Legislative Committee (2018-23).

Prior to arriving at Indiana State, Clinkscales also spent five years as senior associate athletics director at North Carolina State University from 2011 to 2016.

Sherard Clinkscales will begin his tenure with UIC's athletics program, starting next Monday, April 29th.
