Charleston Sexual Assault Investigation

Wednesday, 1 May 2013

Police say this developing story all happened during a house party attended by dozens of people. Right now, police say they've identified suspects, but have made no arrests. The crime has upset a campus community that over the last two months has hosted two town hall meetings on sexual assaults. Students say this type of crime has to stop in Charleston. Charleston police Lieutenant Brad Oyer says the victim has identified the suspects, but that so far there have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing. Police say the victim did seek medical attention and evidence was gathered through a rape kit. News Watch did try to speak to numerous Eastern Illinois University officials today about the case, we were either referred to the Charleston police department or told they weren't in the office to comment.
