Douglas County Flu Death

Friday, 16 February 2018

The flu claims the life of an Illinois woman.

24-year-old Chantelle Clark of Tuscola died Tuesday of an unidentified strain of flu and pneumonia.

Douglas County officials say Clark was not vaccinated before peak flu season this year, something health officials say is very important.

Officials say peak flu season is upon us, and to prevent widespread flu in schools, they recommend that children stay home from school if experiencing cold or flu symptoms.

They also recommend washing hands frequently, covering nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, and avoiding close contact with those who are sick.
