Charleston Square Fire

Friday, 16 February 2018

An investigation is underway after fire crews respond to a fire in Charleston's downtown square. Just before two this morning, the Charleston Fire Department was dispatched to Mother's Bar at 506 Monroe Avenue. Bennett say the American Red Cross is assisting the eight displaced tenants. Charleston Assistant Fire Chief Tim Meister says in the midst of the fire, Monroe Avenue was not only closed, but power was shut off in all buildings. Meister says power was restored around ten-thirty and the street is now open. News Watch will follow up on the fire investigation.
