Effingham County is mourning the loss of their coroner.
Last night, officials say 62-year-old Coroner Duane Guffey died from heart complications after being transported to St. John's hospital in Springfield.
Guffey was elected Effingham County's Coroner in 2012, before his election Guffey served as Effingham County's Deputy Coroner.
Guffey leaves behind wife Marcia and their son Christopher.
Sheriff Dave Mahon will take over as interim coroner, before a new coroner is sworn in December 1st.
