A dominant Charleston baseball lineup and a struggling Mattoon team both got a taste of rival victory in an afternoon double header.

The Trojans are second in the Apollo conference despite a game one loss against the Green Wave yesterday.

Mattoon came out strong scoring five runs in the first inning alone, while the Trojans rallied midway through, but fell a run short losing 7-6.

But game two was all about consistency as the Trojans proved they were the more athletic team, earning a comeback win 8-4.

The Green Wave are second-to-last in the Apollo at three-and-five while Charleston sits at five-and-three.

Charleston won't be playing any ball today, due to weather, the game at Champaign Centennial is postponed.

If weather cooperates, the Trojans are scheduled to play Casey-Westfield tomorrow at home.

Like the baseball rivalry, the Mattoon and Charleston softball teams also split a double header.

The Trojans are 16-and-two after a pair of games against the Green Wave Tuesday afternoon.

Mattoon was all over game one with a 12-4 win, but for Macey McElravy, it took a good eye and an even better swing to lead the Trojans to a game two victory.

The walk off homerun gave the Trojans a last minute 6-5 win over the Green Wave.

Due to rainy weather today, Charleston's home match against Paris is canceled.

A make-up date hasn't been scheduled.
