The Charleston Police Department is investigating a homicide.
Early Saturday morning officers responded to the sound of a gunshot in the 1,000 block of 7th Street.
Officers located two victims in the yard of a residence.
One of the victims, 23-year-old Byron Edingburg of Chicago was taken to Carle Hospital is Urbana where he died from his injuries.
The other victim survived, but his condition is unknown.
The incident occurred around 2:30 Saturday morning.
Shots were also fired in the 2,000 block of 12th Street shortly after 3:00 Saturday morning.
