Illinois Hires Fahey As Next Women's Basketball Coach

Illinois has hired hall of famer Nancy Fahey to be its next women's basketball coach.

Fahey comes to illinois after a 31-year tenure at Washington University in St. Louis.

Fahey has won an NCAA record five Division III National Championships, has made 10 final four appearances, and has 737 career victories. Fahey guided the Wash U program to an 81-game winning streak from 1998 to 2001.

Fahey, who was inducted into the women's basketball Hall of Fame in 2012, takes over for Matt Bollant, who was fired after five season at Illinois.

Bollant had a 61-94 record during his time, including a 22-62 mark in Big Ten Conference play.

Illinois just finished a 9-22 season, including a 3-13 record in the Big Ten.
