Illinois Hires New Men's Basketball Coach

Monday, 20 March 2017

Sometimes change can do wonders in college athletics, and that's what the expectation is after this hire for Illinois.

The Illini men's basketball team has struggled to meet expectations under John Groce after recently missing the tourney for the fourth time in five years.

But now, Illinois has introduced Brad Underwood as the new head coach of the men's basketball team, signing him to a six-year $3 million deal.

Underwood led Oklahoma State to an NCAA tourney berth in his lone season with the team and has a 109-27 record in four seasons as a Division-I coach.
