Effingham mayor Jeff Bloemker is thanking those who voted in the City Hall Madness competition.
The city was eliminated in the "elite eight" round of the national contest over the weekend by just 300 votes.
Effingham was beaten out by Peoria who will now advance to the finals.
The other remaining cities include Pasadena, California, Little Chute, Wisconsin and Vancouver, Washington.
