Oakland Hit and Run

Tuesday, 28 February 2017

On Sunday, February 26th around 6:15 in the morning, the Oakland Police Department was dispatched to Danville Road at East Blevins Street for a report of a man found dead in the roadway. Concerned mother Haley Logan says she's lived in Oakland for over a year and never expected to hear this accident happened right down the road from her house. "I was obviously shocked that something like this does not happen in a small town, I was just shocked for the most part. Scared kinda because I have two kids," Logan said. Earlier today, the Illinois State Police identified the victim as 42-year-old Michael Shane Hoskinson of Oakland. Police believe the vehicle involved in the crash may have driver's side damage, a broken side light and possible hood damage. Authorities also say the vehicle involved was an SUV, most likely a Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave, or GMC Acadia. Logan just hopes police are able to solve the case quickly. "It could be someone we know that ran off. Obviously we don't know who it is, just scary that something like this would happen and someone we know in our little town," said Logan. Police encourage anyone that might have information on the incident to call them immediately. "I mean it's just crazy because it might not be someone from Oakland. It could be someone heading home that doesn't even live here," said Logan. And that's why Logan is being extra careful when it comes to her two daughters. "Having two kids, you gotta watch out for it. You wouldn't expect anything to happen like this so it kind of like changes your whole perspective of your town that you live in," said Logan.
