Indiana State Fraternity Probation

Thursday, 1 December 2016

An Indiana State University fraternity is placed on probation after the accidental drowning of a freshman during an event in Illinois.

Sigma Chi at Indiana State is on conduct probation through May 11, 2018.

Indiana State says while on probation the fraternity won't be allowed to host social events until the Fall 2017 semester.

The fraternity's probation follows the October 23 death of 18-year-old Yiorgo Karnezis.

The university says Karnezis fell from a boat into a pond during a Sigma Chi fraternity social event in Dennison, Illinois.
