Holiday Crimes Awareness

Tuesday, 15 November 2016

The holiday season is approaching and experts and city officials are saying this time of year people are more susceptible to being victims of robberies, burglaries and fraud. But they say there are ways to prevent being a target. Residents are being warned to exercise extra caution this year to avoid being a target of credit card theft or home burglaries. Eastern Illinois University's professor Axton Beth-Hamilton says those shopping online for Cyber Monday should only use credible websites. Other tactics we've learned for holiday protection include updating virus protection against online hackers. Also using motion lights and security cameras for homes. And always keep car and house doors and windows locked.
