New U of I President

A local university announces they have hired a new president.

The University of Illinois says 62-year-old Timothy Killeen will replace current president Robert Easter.

Officials say Killeen was selected after an eight month process.

The new President will take command of nearly 78,000 students and more than 23,000 employees at the end of June.

One of the key issues Killeen will face when he takes over is money.

The university has become less dependent on the state of Illinois over the past few decades, but state money still accounts for about $667 million of the current $4.5 billion annual operating budget.
