Cold Weather and Pets

Wednesday, 19 November 2014

As those temperatures drop, it's time to start thinking a little more about our pets. Doctor Sally Foote of the Okaw Veterinary Clinic in Tuscola says this is the time of the year our pets need more attention. As News Watch's Margaret Langevin reports since the winter coldness came quickly, pets need some time to adjust. Another important tip is to wipe your pet's paws when they come in, their paws can get irritated by the salt on the ground and coldness. Foote says dogs with shorter hair need to have a coat on them in the winter. She says when you give your pet a walk in the cold, keep it short. A three to five minute walk will do.
