Edgewood School Closing

Tuesday, 25 February 2014

A local school district has voted to close an Effingham County grade school.

Edgewood Elementary, which hosts grades kindergarden through fourth grades, will close after the final bell this year.

Superintendent Mark Doan says the closing is the result of low enrollment and financial issues.

Doan says not one certified teacher will lose their position.

He says the staff and students will be integrated into other schools in Effingham County.

Doan says it's too soon to say what will happen to the building.
