The weather didn't stop Eastern Illinois University from welcoming more than 1200 people from all over the state to campus for an open house. Prospective students and their families shuffled around the icy sidewalks touring Eastern's facilities. News Watch's Maggie Hockenberry spoke with Special Events Coordinator, Karenlee Spencer about the event. She said officials worked around the clock to keep visitors safe. Students were given tours of Eastern's campus, but they weren't outside very long. visiting student Bailey Andjulis traveled from Orland Park and she says Eastern did a good job keeping students dry. Admission officials say that more than a third of the students expected to attend did not, but they were happy with the turn out of over 1200. The school also had their largest number of unregistered attendees. Eastern's Interim Admissions Director Lou Hencken said, he couldn't have hoped for a better turn out. Eastern will host another open house Saturday March 29th.
