Champaign School Incident

Monday, 5 May 2014

The Champaign Police Department is investigating an incident at a local school.

Police say they were called to Booker T. Washington Elementary School earlier today after an employee contacted police about retrieving a loaded 9 millimeter magazine from an 8-year-old.

School staff say the magazine had fallen from the child's coat pocket during recess.

They say no other students came in contact with the magazine.

Champaign Police later searched the 8-year-old's home and found ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
