Eastern Illinois hosted their own Special Olympic games with more than 400 athletes participating in various events. There were 19 track and field events today that athletes could participate in. Event director Vanessa Duncan says they go through eight weeks of training prior to the competition. She says the athletes that received gold metals today will advance to the summer Special Olympics at Illinois State University.
