Lonnie Lutz Disbarred

Thursday, 7 November 2013

A former Coles County public defender accused of inappropriate sexual conduct agrees to voluntary disbarment.

Authorities say Lonnie Lutz filed a motion Tuesday asking his name be removed from the state's master role of attorneys.

Lutz's attorney Rodney Smith says Lutz made the decision because he's already retired and doesn't plan on opening a law practice ever again.

Smith says Lutz didn't see a reason in fighting the charges, but says Lutz still denies all allegations filed against him in August.

Lutz retired as public defender in June after serving Coles County for more than 30 years.
