Barn Party Settlement Follow Up

Wednesday, 6 November 2013

The city of Charleston approves an agreement with a company that rented its property out for a party that ended in violence.

Police say in September, L.B. & D. Investments, Inc. rented out its warehouse to Eastern Illinois University's fraternity Phi Beta Sigma for the "barn party".

The party ended when an unknown shooter wounded two party-goers.

Officials say L.B. & D. agreed to violating the code of ordiances and is being fined $2,000.

Charleston Mayor Larry Rennels says they made the agreement to avoid bringing the issue to court.

As for the criminal investigation, so far, two people are facing charges for resisting arrest, but no one has been arrested for the shooting.
