New Shelter in Effingham

Thursday, 24 January 2013

A shelter in Effingham is about more than just giving men a place to stay. Enduring Freedom Ministries opened last June. U.S. Director of Enduring Freedom Ministries director Vicki Kight says the shelter is unique in that residents work on pre-employment strategies, resumes and mock job interviews. They also spend several hours a week in other various classes. Kight says several other cities have contacted her about setting up a similar shelter in their town. Right now, the shelter is only open to men, but will take women if it's an emergency. If you need help, or are interested in helping out the shelter, they can always use food, clothing, furniture and appliances. You can reach them by calling (217) 240-0059. The facility is also looking to expand in the near future.
