Special Assistant Named in Case Involving Babysitter

Friday, 25 January 2013

A special assistant is named in an Effingham County case involving a Dieterich babysitter charged with aggravated battery.

The trial of Kelci Niemerg was also moved to Clinton County.

Niemerg is accused of using excessive force when placing a then nine-month old boy in a play pen while under her care in May 2011.

The child was hospitalized with brain hemorrhaging.

Ed Deters will assist with the case.

Deters was the state's attorney when the case was filed, but did not run for re-election last November.

Niemerg's trial starts April 8th.
