The former head coach of the Terre Haute Rex will be joining the Indiana State baseball team.
Indiana State baseball coach Mitch Hannahs says Ronnie Prettyman will join his staff as an assistant coach for the Sycamores starting with the 2013-2014 season.
Prettyman will begin his third season as a Sycamore coach, the first as a full-time assistant after serving the past two seasons as a volunteer assistant.
Indiana State won their first outright Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship and made their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1995 during Prettyman’s first season in 2012.
Indiana State had another winning season in 2013.
Prettyman played his collegiate baseball at Cal State Fullerton (2003-2005) as the Titans made three straight appearances in the NCAA Super Regionals.
Cal State Fullerton made back-to-back trips to the College World Series (2003 and 2004) and claimed the 2004 National Championship over the Texas Longhorns.
In three seasons with CSF, Prettyman played in 197 games with 195 starts as the primary third baseman, hitting .332 with 51 doubles, 11 triples, 11 home runs, and 124 RBI.
He was drafted twice during his time in college, going in the 28th round to the Milwaukee Brewers in 2004 and in the 10th round to the Seattle Mariners in 2005.
He signed with the Mariners in 2005 and played five seasons in their minor league system (2005-2009).
Prettyman finished his professional career with a .263 batting average with 69 doubles, eight triples, 30 home runs, and 179 RBI.
