Charleston Sexual Assault Update

A local sexual assault has citizens concerned about the big picture in Charleston. The victim told the Charleston Police Department multiple men sexually assaulted her during a house party in the 1,000 block of Fourth Street over the weekend. Some residents today who say the case is just the latest part of a much bigger problem not just in Charleston but in Illinois. Charleston Police Lieutenant Brad Oyer says no arrests have been made but the victim has identified the suspects, and they continue to be questioned. Coordinator of the women's studies program and professor at Eastern Illinois University Jeannie Ludlow says she wants to raise awareness to and funding for organizations that help victims after a sexual assault. One of those organizations is Sexual Assault Counseling and Information Services on EIU's campus.
