Over the weekend, divers found a dead body at a pond in Effingham County.
According to Altamont Police, on Sunday April 14th around 5 p.m. on Sunday, a passerby saw a man in a pond just south of I-70 in the 100 block of Frontage Road.
Authorities said the Effingham County Dive Team worked with Altamont Police to recover the man from the water.
The man was pronounced dead, but was later identified as Jacob McGuire (30) of Montrose, said the Effingham County Coroner.
The Altamont Police Department said they are investigating the incident.
