EIU's Macy McGlone Named OVC Player of the Year

Eastern Illinois' Macy McGlone has won the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year after leading the conference in nine different statistical categories.

This is the first time in Eastern Illinois' history that someone has won this award.

McGlone was also named the Defensive Player of the Year in the conference, which is the first time a Panther has won this award since the 2011-12 season, according to the OVC.

She is only the second player in the conference to ever win both awards in a season.

Macy McGlone led the Ohio Valley Conference in points and rebounds this season and second in the NCAA in double-doubles this year with 25, according to the OVC.

Mcglone also paved her way into Eastern's record books, as she broke the single season rebound record with 371, according to EIU Athletics.  

She was also named to the All-OVC Women's Basketball 1st team and was named OVC Player of the Week seven times during the season, according to EIU Athletics.

McGlone averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds a game this season and helped lead her team to the Ohio Valley Conference tournament where they will face the winner of the Morehead State and Tennesee State game on Thursday, March 7th.
