A two car crash in Effingham leaves two people dead.
Illinois State Police said on Saturday December 2nd, 83-year-old Shirley Klitzing of Brownstown Illinois was traveling south in the northbound lane of Interstate 57, when she hit a semi truck.
Police said Klitzing was transported to HS-HS St.Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham and then flown to Carle Trauma Center in Urbana where she died.
Authorities said the driver of the truck, 68-year-old Richard Messerve died at the scene.
Officials said an investigation is ongoing.
