A federal lawsuit filed by some Coles County taxpayers is dismissed.
In August, two businessmen filed a complaint against Coles County over tax reassessment.
Supervisor of Assessment Karen Biddle said the last time a property tax reassessment was done on commercial and industrial businesses in Coles County was in 2001.
This week, a federal judge ruled the complaint was a state court matter and should be addressed there.
The attorney for the businessmen plans to appeal the ruling.
Biddle says offices, banks, fast food restaurants and industrial factories are included in the property reassessment.
