The Illinois State Police said the Thanksgiving holiday travel period was also a deadly one in the state.
ISP director Leo Schmitz said ten people died in 10 car crashes this year.
He said troopers made nearly 7,000 traffic stops and issued more than 3,400 speeding tickets during the Thanksgiving weekend.
