EIU Hazing Incident

Eastern Illinois University's chapter of Sigma Chi is suspended after investigations of hazing.

Officials from the executive committee of the fraternity said they had to close the organization for alcohol related accountability issues with the chapter.

They said the investigation started two months ago, after a new pledge accused Sigma Chi of hazing.

Eastern officials said the chapter is suspended for two and a half years.

The national organization sayid current members of the chapter are unable to participate in anything Sigma Chi related until 2023.
    
Officials said the goal is to eventually return the chapter to campus and provide a safe environment for future members.
