Douglas Hall Fire

Thursday, 30 November 2017

A fire is reported at a residence hall on Eastern Illinois University's campus.

The Charleston Fire Department said they were called to campus Wednesday evening after when an electrical spark in the attic caused insulation to catch fire.

They said maintenance workers were in the attic when the fire started and were able to extinguish most of the fire before crews arrived.

Firefighters said students were evacuated from the building, but allowed to return a short time later.

Officials said no structural damage or injuries were reported.
