As shoppers prepare for the holiday season, police are offering safety tips to the public.
The Illinois Fraternal Order of the Police State Lodge recommends to not buy more than you can carry and carrying purses or wallets close to your body or inside your coat.
Police said it's also important to have your keys in hand when approaching your vehicle.
