Safety Rating improves for Effingham Fire Department

Wednesday, 8 November 2017

The rating is good news for the fire department and also Effingham residents.

This week Effingham fire chief Joe Holomy said the department received a class 2 rating from the Insurance Service Office of Commercial Risk Services.

Holomy said departments are ranked one through ten, with one being the highest.

He said they are judged on public protection, equipment, response times and much more.

The rating goes into effect February 1st and could mean lower insurance rates for homeowners.
