A local fire department was honored for saving a man's life.
The Effingham Fire Department received a 2017 First Responder Caring Award at the EMS World Expo Show in Las Vegas this week.
Fire chief Joe Holomy said earlier this year five firefighters used air-bags to rescue a victim who was trapped under a semi-truck at Pinnacle Foods on South Banker Street.
Holomy said the department was up against 60 other fire stations for the honor.
