A homecoming tradition is returning to Eastern Illinois University.

The school's annual homecoming parade kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Saturday around campus and downtown Charleston.

Charleston police are warning residents not to park along the parade route which runs down 6th and 7th Streets to Polk ending on Division.

The parade will feature more than 100 campus and community entries.

Former head football coach Bob Spoo will be the grand marshal.

Along with the homecoming parade, lots of other activities are planned around Eastern's Homecoming week.

The school plans a pep rally on Friday at McAfee gym starting at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, the alumni tent city at O'Brien Field gets underway at 11 a.m. followed by the football game against Jacksonville State at 2 p.m.
