As the harvest gets underway, soybean production is expected to see record numbers this fall.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is predicting soybean production to increase 1 percent, or 6 million bushels compared to last year.
Farmers are expected to harvest less corn this year at just over 2 billion bushels.
That said, the U.S.D.A. still estimates the corn projection would be the third highest on record in Illinois.
