A woman dies in a crash on Interstate 57.
Coles County Coroner Ed Schniers says Shakira Smith (25) from the Chicago area was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Witnesses tell police Smith was driving northbound near the I-57 / Route 16 interchange Saturday afternoon.
Witnesses say the driver swerved and crossed several lanes of traffic before hitting a semi-truck head on.
The driver of the semi was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The investigation continues.
