The Champaign Police Department released information about Unofficial 2017.
Champaign Police said one death and 114 citations were issued during the annual Unofficial St. Patrick's Day at University of Illinois last month.
Police said citations issued included 41 minor in possession of alcohol, 52 open alcohol, and 9 adult responsibility for alcohol related violations at residences.
Champaign area hospitals reported 30 patients were treated for alcohol related issues from Unofficial events.
Champaign Police said area law enforcement agencies took precautions to ensure safety during the celebration.
They said along with routine bar checks, canvassing campus, and wellness checks, the Univiersity Police Department and the Champaign County Community Coalition led alcohol safety efforts.
Police said efforts included door-to-door and resources mailings to students, online "Rethink the Drink" campaign, and police safety presentations to U of I Greek Life and other student groups.
The Champaign Police Department said these efforts helped contribute to the lowest number of violations written in the last 10 years.
