Wednesday, 29 March 2017

While legislators are wanting sick days, dog owners are warned about a deadly infection that could spread to their pets.

Veterinarians said with temperatures warming up and more activities outside, pet owners should be aware of a deadly bacteria called Leptospirosis.

They said the bacteria can linger in soil and is spread through contact with urine.

They also said signs of Lepto include fevers, dehydration, vomiting and diarrhea.

Officials said as Lepto is becoming more common across the United States, vets recommend the distemper vaccine.
