EIU Baseball Tops Robert Morris Chicago

Tuesday, 28 March 2017

Unlike the first 19 games of the season, the Eastern Illinois baseball team is home for a midweek affair.

The Panthers welcomed Robert Morris-Chicago in a non-conference matchup which got underway around three.

EIU went in with a 3-19 record while riding a two game losing streak, but sent the veteran Brendon Allen to start things out on the mound.

Allen gave up two runs early though and had a short leash as he was pulled after just two innings.

EIU freshman Alex Stevenson came in for relief but didn't have much more success, giving up two more runs in the second.

The Panthers found their way back though and defeated Robert Morris 12-4.

Eastern returns to action Wednesday to close out a five-game homestand against Southern Illinois.
