Tuesday, 21 March 2017

With spring in season, Effingham's HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital is encouraging alternative options to leaf burning.

Doctors say leaf burning can affect many, especially those who struggle with respiratory health illnesses.

St. Anthony's hospital recommends compositing or mulching your leaves in order to have a positive and lasting impact on

the community's health.

City officials say homeowners may burn leaves and yard waste on Fridays,Saturdays, and Mondays within city limits from

sunrise to six.

Effingham fire and police departments will monitor the burnings, and police say recurring infractions will result in a fine.
