The Homer Township Fire Protection District is mouring the loss of one of their own.
Officials say John Mike Cummins died after experiencing a medical issue causing him to crash his vehicle after responding to a call.
Authorities say Cummins was transported to the hospital where he later died.
Fire Chief Don Happ says Cummins worked at the department for two and a half years, but had been volunteering for other departments since he was 18.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
