Local Flooding

Wednesday, 17 April 2013

No doubt the area has had its fair share of rain this week, and more is on the way! Farmers are hoping for a little dry weather, but with the conditions, the work is piling up in the fields and so is the standing water. Stan Metzger says his cattle moved themselves to the other side of the highway because of the flooded pasture. He says they're focused on fixing the fence the storms knocked down to keep their cattle in. Many farmers are still waiting to plant because of all this wet weather. Not surprising given the recent conditions. In fact, the State Water survey says soil moisture is described as near normal as the growing season begins. The survey says conditions look better than a year ago when moisture levels started out low and the state was plagued by drought.
