EIU Debate Watch

Wednesday, 28 September 2016

With the U.S. Presidential Debates heating up, Eastern Illinois University is taking steps to make sure students are getting informed. The Communication Studies Department hosted an event called "Debate Watch" and the event helped give students confidence in their choice. Over 100 students of all grade levels filled the seats of Lumpkin's Auditorium to view what is now being called the most watched U.S presidential debate in history. Communication Studies Professor Marita Gronnvoll helped host "Debate Watch". She says it's important now more than ever for the younger generation to be informed. Once the event was over, Gronnvoll said it was a success. She also said the department will not host another event for the next two debates between Clinton and Trump, because the first debate is the most important.
