Effingham Recycle Program

Friday, 26 August 2016

The city of Effingham has been without a recycling program for years, but now, some residents say that should change. Effingham Mayor Jeff Bloemker hosted a town hall meeting, Tuesday night, at city hall to hear from residents and also other communities with recycling programs. News Watch's Darronté Matthews found out the town is finally ready to step up, brainstorm and start working on ideas. Some of the suggestions presented at the meeting include curbside pick up of recyclable items, and also bins that accept glass. Mayor Bloemker says the next step is for the city council to review the resident's concerns and proposals. He says the program is still in the "planning" stages.
