University of Illinois football head coach Bill Cubit says freshman linebacker Julian Jones is off the team pending the
outcome of a criminal investigation in Georgia.
Jones is suspended for now until the results come in.
Officials say the investigation is focused on an alleged crime committed somewhere in Georgia during a week
the Illini were off in October, but the town and type of alleged crime hasn't been announced.
Jones has played in eight games this season, primarily on special teams.
