IHSA Football Quarterfinals

Friday, 13 November 2015

This local high school football team will have their biggest challenge of the postseason so far, as they match up against a fellow undefeated team.
Arcola will take on one of the other four 11-0 teams in the class 1A IHSA quarterfinals tomorrow against Gibson City-Melvin Sibley.
The Purple Riders come into the match up with the best scoring difference in 1A, beating opponents by an average of 55 points.
Arcola head coach Zach Zehr says his team is going to have to find an answer to stopping the Falcons run game.
Even though Gibson City is the two seed and Arcola is the three seed, history favors the Purple Riders.
Arcola is 50-22 in the postseason, while Melvin-Sibley is 7-14.
Kickoff is tomorrow afternoon in Gibson City at two.
Other local teams are still fighting for a state championship, including Apollo Conference representative Taylorville.
The Tornadoes take their undefeated record into a road matchup with Breese-Mater Dei tomorrow afternoon at two.
In 3A, St. Joseph travels to Bloomington-Central Catholic at four, while Monticello hosts Tolono Unity at two.
And finally, in class 2-A, the Pana Panthers take on 12-seed Auburn at two.
